Sandon Ghost Town
[ top ]
In its heyday, Sandon was known as the 'Monte Carlo' of North America - home to over 5,000 miners and millionaires, con men and gamblers, speculators and 'ladies of the evening.' Destroyed twice over its history, a group of dedicated volunteers has been working since the 1970's to restore and preserve buildings and artifacts. Located just outside the town of New Denver, Sandon is one hour's drive from Nelson and also the gateway to Idaho Peak.
