Pilot Bay Trail & Lighthouse
[ top ]
A non-strenuous, lake level trail, the Pilot Bay trail is located on the Crawford Bay side of the Kootenay Lake ferry, approx. 1 hour from Nelson (including ferry ride). The lighthouse is located at the top of its own short trail. It has been out of service since 1993, but is open to the public and is a lovely picnic spot and vantage point. A ride on the ferry, combined with a hike (with perhaps a detour to Ainsworth Hot Springs on your way back to Nelson), makes for a lovely day outing.
